About Our Jacob Sheep Wool
Jacob sheep wool is considered medium fine and has an average staple length of 3-6 inches. It is very light in the grease which makes it a great wool to try spinning in the grease, but if that’s not your style, it washes up beautifully with little weight lost in washing. Our flock of Jacob sheep has been selectively bred to produce excellent quality fleeces for hand spinning and wool arts of many kinds.
Every one of our sheep has a unique fleece quality, style, and color ratio. We try to match each fiber artist with the fleece that is best suited for their purposes.
As fiber artists ourselves, we understand the importance of excellent wool quality with little vegetable matter or second cuts to get in the way of you making something amazing with the wool.
Our farm is also a part of the Shave ‘Em to Save ‘Em Initiative. It’s a program that recognizes fiber artists for using wool from breeds of sheep on the Livestock Conservation Priority List which includes our Jacob Sheep.
I wanted to let you know that the beautiful fleece just arrived in excellent condition. I am new to spinning and do not speak from lots of experience, but, I wanted to say, of the raw wool that I have either been gifted with or paid for, this fleece really shines in cleanliness, lack of VM, overall interest and beauty. Thank you!
We had a terrible ice storm here this last Winter that the cleanup has garnered all of my time. So, I am not sure when I will be working with this fleece, but I can’t wait for the free time to dive in.
Thanks again. I plan to be a repeat customer. All the best wishes for you and your Farm.
Liked my first fleece purchase so much that I had to purchase another one. Love your Jacob fleeces!
Beautiful fleece. Great communication with seller. Shipping was quick and overages refunded.
The fleece was gorgeous and soft. So excited to start processing it!
Thank you for mailing out so quickly. Lambi’s fleece arrived in today’s mail and it is one beautiful fleece! Not much VM and lots of color, too! Jacob wool is one of my favorites, but this one has to be my favorite Jacob fleece, ever.
